My Story

I’m Carolina Native, Tom Stevenson. I’m just an ordinary guy living a good life in the same place I grew up:  a very tight knit rural community in Upstate, South Carolina called Hickory Tavern. It’s home and I love it here!  Yes, that makes me a true sandlapper and proud of it!  My wonderful community is nestled in rolling hills of the piedmont of our fine  state.  There are rivers, lakes, creeks and streams running all through the area.   It is perfect for outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, swimming and more.

Although it is a rural unincorporated community, I can be in the cities of Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Greenwood in less than an hour.  I can be in larger cities like Columbia, Charlotte and Atlanta in 3 hours or less.  In a little over an hour I can have my toes in a mountain stream and have my toes in the sand of our world renowned beaches in less than 4 hours.  My family has been in the area for well over 100 years.  So we are well rooted in the community.

I’m a son, brother, very, very proud uncle, cousin and friend to many.   I love God, my great country, my awesome state, my incredible community, my amazing friends and my wonderful family.   I spend a lot of my time with my family and friends, practicing my traditional evangelical Christian faith, exploring this magnificent region of our great country, being a community advocate, helping others, and having some fun along the way.  I am a very creative person and have been creating, designing, building, or making things pretty much all my life.  I enjoy planning and producing awesome events, taking holiday decorating to the extreme, creating and making music, doing DIY projects, working in the garden and landscape, and writing among other things.  I am a problem solver, visionary,  a consultant but most of all a man of action; a doer.  If I see something that needs  doing , I jump in and do it or see that it gets done. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy sharing what I have learned with others.

Along with everything else, in my spare time, I love to work in my woodshop, people watch, swim, go to festivals, music (all kinds), socialize with good people, eat out, go on day trips, amusement parks, sports especially baseball and college sports (huge Carolina Gamecock fan), fishing when I can which is rare, hiking, RVing and camping, the beach, mountains, etc. I am a history buff and enjoy researching and historical places.

I am a bit holiday crazy and go way over the top for most holidays. I enjoy seeing others enjoy what I do. I am currently learning to cook and preserve food. I have plans to do more traveling in the future and a bucket list I need to check some more things off of. I am very well rounded.

I have been able to accomplish so much in my short life. I have been a teacher, a coach (girls softball, and basketball and coed, boys and Girls Volleyball), a missionary in the hills of West VA, Christian youth camp director, nonprofit administrator for two non-profits (restructuring both and bringing them from the brink of bankruptcy), regional marketing director for the third largest (at the time) cable company  in the US, a pastor, a minister of youth, minister of music, a behavior modification specialist, and a director of operations for a multi - media oragnization.  I have worked in radio and TV broadcasting, have worked with kids in the prison system and have taught people of all ages just to name a few. I have won several civic awards for some of my accomplishments. I have a few more things I would like to accomplish on this earth before God calls me home.  I would like sing in a band, travel to Europe and the Holy land to name a couple

I am very well rounded with a lot of talents, abilities, hobbies and interests. There is not a whole lot I can’t do. I can pretty much do anything I set my mind to do and do it well and have had a lot of diverse experiences. By themselves these abilities, accomplishments and experiences may not seem significant, but together they give me an exceptional and exclusive skill set that is unlike anyone else, period.   I have been very fortunate to use my one of a kind skill set to help numerous people in every age group, economic situation, and social setting over the years to fulfill their unique need or make their dreams come true. So, what is it that you need doing and how can I help you?
